Renovation and expansion of the Canyamel Park Hotel
Renovation and extension with reinforced concrete porticos, ceramic facades, green roof and comprehensive update of interior and exterior cladding.
Expansion with a Mediterranean identity
The renovation of the Hotel Canyamel Park combines refurbishment and expansion to modernize the structure, improve its efficiency, and adapt the building to contemporary use. Located in Canyamel, the project blends seamlessly into the Mediterranean landscape through its understated volume and an envelope of ceramic textures and scraped mortar that reflect the soft coastal light. The project begins with a reinforced structural base upon which a clear, orderly architecture unfolds, designed to optimize user comfort. The new green roof acts as a transitional space between interior and exterior, providing shade, coolness, and a seamless connection with the surrounding environment.
Reinforced foundation and concrete frames
The extension begins with a shallow foundation constructed with isolated footings beneath columns, connected by reinforced concrete tie beams and partially supported on a foundation slab. The vertical and horizontal structure is resolved using reinforced concrete columns and beams, complemented by waffle slabs that provide stability and reduce deformation. The facades are built with concrete blocks and ceramic partitions, creating a solid envelope suitable for the coastal climate. This structural foundation ensures a durable, stable extension capable of supporting the new program.
Ceramics, mortar and landscaping
The exterior walls are constructed with 14 cm thick H-16 ceramic bricks with a 5 cm EPS insulated cavity, ensuring balanced thermal performance. Inside, the partitions are finished with plaster and plastic paint, creating clean and bright surfaces. Wet areas feature moisture-resistant plasterboard ceilings for greater durability. A durable, scraped, single-layer mortar is used on the exterior, consistent with the Mediterranean character of the complex. The green roof adds thermal comfort and a contemporary use of the building's upper level, providing shade, coolness, and greenery. The interior and exterior stoneware flooring unifies the walkways and facilitates maintenance.
