Construction of the Son Figuera estate in Artá

Rustic single-family home, reinforced concrete, natural stone, SATE, swimming pool and zarci grey tiles; balance between local tradition and contemporary lines.

Contemporary rustic architecture

The house is located on a rustic estate in Artà, surrounded by the Mallorcan countryside and bathed in the soft light that filters down the nearby hillsides. The project blends tradition and modernity with a serene aesthetic: thick walls, deep shadows, and materials that age gracefully. The reinforced concrete structure supports a clean, uncluttered volume, while the exterior skin combines local stone and an external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) to maintain the rural essence without sacrificing a more contemporary feel. The house is organized around outdoor living, with the pool and open views as the central focus of daily life. The result is a tranquil and unpretentious Mediterranean atmosphere.

Structural and envelope system

The structure is built with reinforced concrete to ensure stability and durability in a rustic environment exposed to the elements. The facades alternate between cast-in-place stone walls and areas with an External Thermal Insulation Composite System (ETICS), optimizing insulation and ease of maintenance. The swimming pool is constructed with grey Zarci stone, treated on-site, a durable material that provides visual continuity with the landscape. Inside, grey Zarci tile flooring helps to unify the spaces and maintain a stable temperature. The building services are discreetly integrated, prioritizing clean lines and a serene architectural presence.

Stone, concrete and sarci

The project relies on materials with high thermal inertia and a restrained Mediterranean aesthetic. Local stone lends a rural character and a chromatic transition with the surrounding landscape. The EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) improves energy performance without altering the traditional appearance of the façade. Reinforced concrete structures the house with clean lines and no unnecessary embellishments. The gray Zarci stone—used in the pool and interior flooring—introduces a cool and stable texture, designed to withstand daily use and the Balearic climate. The overall effect maintains a balance between robust materials and a luminous, tranquil atmosphere.
